4 Day Juice Cleanse

During final exams in early May, I stress bought the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth juicer off Amazon.com. I had watched various documentaries about juicing and healthy eating and the dangers of big food companies in America and my goal was to flood my system with nutrients, feel healthier, and lose weight. I jump started the first week with a 100% juice detox where I basically only consumed freshly juiced vegetables and fruits about 4-6 times a day. While it was tough to follow for an entire week, I managed to get through almost all of it without cheating much and mostly loved it. My daily headaches went away after the first 2 days, my energy level increased, and I dropped weight right away.

Since then, I still juice a lot. I have brought it on weekend getaways to friends’ apartments (in retrospect that was probably annoying) and feel really gross if I go too long without making and drinking any. Since that first week, I’ve also dropped about 10 pounds. I’m heading to the beach Friday and want to do another complete cleanse all this week. Hopefully I can feel better and lose a few pounds before prancing around Wrightsville beach in a bikini (because it’s no fun if you don’t prance).

This evening, after a weekend with some bad food choices, I had the following juices:

  • 1 orange, 1 apple, 1 cucumber, romaine lettuce, spinach, kale
  • 3 slices of pineapple, romaine, kale, collared greens

I feel full and am anxious to get started on the next few days. I’ll have to get up early to prep for my day since I nanny from 8 to 6, and I’ll also have to try hard to say no to snacking when the kids do. But I really want to succeed.
My juicing plan for tomorrow is as follows (obsessively planning things out helps me stay on track and appeals to my ridiculous quasi Type A personality):

  • 7 am – 3 slices pineapple, romaine, spinach
  • 10 am – 1 grapefruit, 1 apple, 2 cucumbers, romaine, spinach
  • 1 pm – 2 plums, 4 strawberries, beet slices, collared greens, kale
  • 4 pm – 3 slices pineapple, spinach, kale
  • 7 pm – 1 pear, 1 lemon, ginger, 1 cucumber, spinach

I’ll need to grocery shop after nannying and stock up for the rest of the week. I hope that updating and posting here about it will keep me in check and on track. I think I can, I think I can…
